Rules for British Motorcycling

written to celebrate the day my son passed his test
with contributions from the VX Owner's Club
  1. Don't fall off.
  2. You might fall off: dress accordingly
  3. It's colder than you think
  4. It's going to rain
  5. Who's in your personal space?
  6. Where's your escape route?
  7. If it rattles or wobbles, it's going to fall off
  8. If it's wet, shiny or metallic, it's slippery
  9. Gaps get smaller, Volvos are harder, reps are sillier
  10. If it's bigger, faster, stupider or inclined to race you, let it go first - you can see what it's doing
  11. If the pavement is black, white, or shiny, stay off it. - Rick - red 91
  12. Racing is done at closed circuits! - Ko
  13. Crashbarriers are your enemy. - Ko
  14. All moving objects are your enemy. Unless they are moving away from you.
  15. Do not mix alcohol with driving a motorcycle (or any other vehicle).
  16. Do not mix alcohol while driving.
  17. Ignoring rule 16 will cause even trees to cross the street; then rule 15 is applicable.
